Vegan savoryhamburger steaks with onion gravy

Ingredients :

For the hamburger steaks:

1 cup cooked lentils

1 cup cooked quinoa

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon soy sauce

1 tablespoon tomato paste

1 teaspoon dried thyme

1 teaspoon dried oregano

Salt and pepper to taste

2 tablespoons olive oil

For the onion gravy:

2 large onions, thinly sliced

2 tablespoons olive oil

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

2 cups vegetable broth

1 tablespoon soy sauce

Salt and pepper to taste

Préparations :

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked lentils, cooked quinoa, chopped onion, minced garlic, soy sauce, tomato paste, dried thyme, dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix well until everything is evenly combined.

Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape them into round patties, resembling hamburger steaks.

Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Place the patties in the skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and crispy on the outside. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.

In the same skillet, add another 2 tablespoons of olive oil and sauté the thinly sliced onions until they are caramelized and golden brown, about 10-15 minutes.

Sprinkle the caramelized onions with flour and cook for another 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly.

Gradually pour in the vegetable broth while stirring continuously to prevent lumps from forming. Add soy sauce, salt, and pepper to taste.

Continue to cook the gravy until it thickens to your desired consistency, about 5-7 minutes.

Once the gravy is ready, return the cooked hamburger steaks to the skillet and simmer for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.

Serve the vegan savory hamburger steaks with onion gravy hot, garnished with fresh herbs if desired. Enjoy!
