Bacon Wrapped Chicken Tenders

Ingredients :

  • 1 pound chicken tenders
  • 8-10 slices of bacon (depending on the number of chicken tenders)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder (optional for a bit of heat)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Toothpicks (optional, to secure the bacon)

Préparations :

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a wire rack on top. This allows the heat to circulate around the chicken tenders and helps the bacon become crispy.
  2. Prepare the Chicken:
    • Season the chicken tenders with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. If you like a bit of heat, mix the chili powder with the brown sugar in the next step.
  3. Wrap with Bacon:
    • Take one slice of bacon and wrap it around each chicken tender. Start at one end and wrap it tightly until the entire piece of chicken is covered. Secure the bacon with a toothpick if needed.
  1. Coat with Brown Sugar Mixture:
    • In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar (and chili powder if using). Roll each bacon-wrapped chicken tender in the mixture, ensuring an even coating.
  2. Bake:
    • Place the bacon-wrapped chicken tenders on the wire rack on the baking sheet. This setup allows the fat to drain away from the chicken and helps the bacon crisp up.
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and the chicken is cooked through. If you have a meat thermometer, the internal temperature of the chicken should reach 165°F (75°C).
  3. Serve:
    • Remove from the oven and let the chicken tenders rest for a few minutes before serving. This allows the juices to redistribute and keeps the chicken moist.

Tips:

  • Optional Glaze: For an extra touch of flavor, brush the bacon-wrapped chicken tenders with a mixture of honey and a splash of apple cider vinegar during the last 5 minutes of baking.
  • Variation: Add a slice of jalapeño or a small piece of cheese between the chicken and bacon for added flavor.
  • Grilling Option: You can also grill these chicken tenders over medium heat for about 15-20 minutes, turning occasionally until the bacon is crispy and the chicken is cooked through.
