Préparations :

Cook Bacon:In a large skillet, cook the chopped bacon over medium heat until crispy. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute.Cook Cabbage:Add the chopped cabbage to the skillet. If the skillet is too full, you can add it in batches. Sauté the cabbage until it starts to wilt, about 10 minutes.Add Vinegar and Seasonings:Stir in the apple cider vinegar and sugar. Season with salt and pepper to taste. If the cabbage mixture seems too dry, you can add a little chicken broth.Combine and Serve:Add the cooked bacon back into the skillet and stir to combine. Continue cooking until the cabbage is tender and cooked through, about 5 more minutes. Adjust seasoning as needed.Serve:Serve the sautéed cabbage with bacon hot. Enjoy as a side dish or a main course.TipsTo achieve the best flavor in your sautéed cabbage with bacon, start by choosing the right type of cabbage.Green cabbage is a popular choice, but you can also experiment with savoy or red cabbage for a different taste and color.Make sure to slice the cabbage into even pieces to ensure uniform cooking.Additionally, cooking the bacon until it’s crispy before adding the cabbage allows the rendered fat to infuse the dish with a rich, smoky flavor. For an extra kick, consider adding a splash of apple cider vinegar or a sprinkle of red pepper flakes toward the end of cooking.Another important tip is to avoid overcrowding the pan. Sautéing the cabbage in batches if necessary allows it to brown nicely, enhancing its sweetness and texture.Stir occasionally, but let it sit for a minute or two between stirs to develop a bit of caramelization. You can also customize the dish by adding other ingredients, such as onions, garlic, or even a handful of cooked sausage for added protein and flavor.
